Seán Laffey puts in a call to Teresa Finley of the IrishFest Atlanta.
Seán Laffey, Irish Music Times
The 5th Atlanta Irish Festival comes together on the first weekend of November; a relatively young festival it draws on some of the best Irish Traditional musicians working and living in the USA. The festival is centred on the Doubletree Hilton, a smaller hotel that encourages direct interaction between participants and musicians. Seán “As a relatively new festival how did you go about funding your events?”
Teresa “Early on we set a goal for our festival to reach 50% of our revenue in ticket sales. After year 4, we were nearly there and hope to achieve that goal this year, our 5th event. We know for any cultural group to succeed, it must meet the needs of its intended audience. We are grateful to our patrons, they have been very loyal. We have had repeat donationsfrom 2 foundations where our internal champions are active in the Atlanta Irish community.”
